Mike,
I received your knife in the
mail & have been whittling & carving ever since. I have owned many knives
over the years, to include a
Woodlore & I must say this is hands down the best Bushcraft knife I have
used. The blade length is perfect, it's not too big for intricate
tasks & yet not too small for the more rugged, serious use that comes to
play in survival/ Bushcraft needs. The blade thickness is
ideal especially when using a baton! The handle is stout & a bit larger
than most knives on the market. One thing most people don't
take into account when selecting a knife (feeling the knife in the hand) is
your hand should be able to grip the handle tightly but be
thick enough that your hand should have some "grip-room" left for
the times when the user needs to beardown on the handle & really
tighten the grip.. This allows for the tightest (safest) possible grip. A handle
that is too small (diameter) won't allow the user to get the
maximum grip possible. The handle material is great! I love the "Eco"
spin you incorporated!!
You have accomplished designing & making the perfect knife. The different
sheaths give it a custom feel. This is an incredible knife.
It performed perfectly to my abuse! Great job. The great thing too is I didn't
have to wait a year or more like the other Bushcraft
websites!! Thanks for the great knife!! Great website as well. The "store"
is full of very useful items, not magic trick junk.

Now that I have had the oppurtunity
to own and use your knife design for some time (purchased 11/11/2008), I wanted
to drop you a line to tell you It is my absolute favorite knife. I just returned
from a seven day walkabout, where I saw quite a few other knives break, either
at the tip or in the case of one guy along the belly. Thought batoning, whittling,
skinning rattlesnake and cleaning bitter root the knife came throught like a
champ. I did not even need to sharpen it while in the field, it did a fantastic
job of retaining its edge! You have a real winner with the design. Thank you
again.
Sincerely
~Tim G. - Bothell, WA
Mike,
I've had your knife for nearly 2 years
and I must tell you I'm very satisfied. The edge I'm able to put on it is incredible.
I always withhold judgement on a piece of gear until I've used it at least a
year. It's seen some real work. You'll never see a counter top "food prep"
review from me. A $10 kitchen knife will work for that, probably better. Your
knife is designed for the bush and that's what I've used it for. Starting fires,
carving, cleaning game both large and small (real food prep), and much more.
I've done it all. Absolutely no complaints and I'd not hesitate to recommend
the BCNW to anyone.
Thanks,
~Jimmy D. - Fort Payne, AL
Mike,
Just wanted to touch base and let you know how your knife is ranking among my
collection. Since Igot the BCNW-01, I have also received 2 custom bushcraft
blades from England and several more high end production knives. The customs
are big money knives and I'm happy to have them, but the BCNW-01 is by far the
best for my practical purposes. As you know the BCNW is borderline compact so
its easy for me to carry every day. Its never failed to perform in any way I've
needed it, and I expect it to be on my side from now on..
Best Regards,
~ Dusty R. - Georgia, USA
I appreciate your willingness
to communicate with your customers in a timely way. That in and of itself is
reason enough to
patronize your site more. Thanks again. You do business the way it should be
done.

I'm happy to say I just received my order. It arrived much faster than
I expected, so I'm writing to say thanks, and that I'm impressed
with the service. I had the choice to order this gear from other vendors, but
after watching your videos and seeing your dedication to
bushcraft and wilderness appreciation, I chose to order through you. It's satisfying
to work with a business conducted responsibly and
conscientiously, and having, at its core, respect for our environment.

I received the BCNW-O1 and just wanted to say thanks for such a fine product.
You've really hit on a great design with this. I was looking for a nice upgrade
from my Moras and spent some time researching a few different brands/models
from Bark River to Fallkniven, Helle, Puukko, and Skookum. I had some basic
requirements, including: blade of carbon or tool steel, full tang, convex or
scandi grind, and a wood or leather handle. Then I saw your videos on YouTube
and noticed your recommendation of thumb scalloping on the handle. This made
a lot of sense, so I checked out your knife on the website and noticed that
it matched all of my criteria and looked like a quality product. So I decided
to take a chance. Glad I did! This knife is very impressive. Barring any surprises,
it is likely to be the last bushcraft knife I'll ever need. The thumb scallops
work very nicely and I love the way the handle fits in my hand. I took it out
to the backyard and shaved down some wood as a quick test drive...whittled a
bit, cut a few notches, made a feather stick, just a basic once-over. Very good
handling and cutting all around. Couldn't be happier with it! I'm really looking
forward to taking it out camping for a more suitable workout. I also noticed
as a curiosity that the O1 steel doesn't appear to affect my compasses, unlike
some of my other knives. This is a good thing when one carries on a neck lanyard
or lashed to a pack shoulder strap. Also…good choice of blade thickness
and the scandi grind is excellent. I'm really pleased with this purchase. I
do believe that my hunt for the best all-around bushcraft knife is over :-)
Best regards,
~Greg A. - Valrico, FL
I love your
website and your videos. You also have the best prices, and, as it turns out,
terrific customer service. I like that all the
products you offer are field-tested.
Cheers,

...Now about the [BCNW-O1] knife. This thing is like a woodworker's plane/chisel/carving
knife, all in one. I never took it to a stone, just stropped it on a leather
belt and a Razor Edge brand steel (fine). Days and one kuska later, it is still
crazy sharp!! The dangler setup I made is still working good. Hats off to you,
your design and the choice of knifemaker. A friend who is an old school bushcrafter
was over tonight and after some gear/kit review loved the 01. We compared the
Skookum Bush Tool in size, shape and tickness and after much discussion found
the 01 to be the preferrred tool. Perception is reality. I continue to appreciate
this little working knife the more I use it. Just thought you'd like to hear
some more praises.

I just wanted to take a minute
and thank you for having such an informative website. I'm new to Bushcraft per
se, but not new to
outdoor living having spent several years in the Army. Even with multi-month
excursions to the woods in North Carolina, no one ever
bothered to teach me some of the things I learned in your video on tarp set-up,
and of course I was too young and dumb to seek out
that knowledge on my own. That would have been so helpful! Since finding your
site, I've recreated the sterno/wood stove your
articles mention, pre-tied the knots and guylines on my tarp, and developed
a new appreciation for the spoon knife. I also appreciate
your inclusion of some of the ultralight gear, as one of my main goals is to
minimize weight when in the backcountry (perhaps due to
my painful experiences in the Infantry).
Then, I was even more surprised and pleased when I checked out your store. Not
only are your prices reasonable, in fact cheaper for
some things than anything else I've found so far, your descriptions of the products
seem to be personally written rather than the usual
"cut and paste" from the manufacturer's website. That's so refreshing...
~James O. - Greenfield, IN
That tarp set up is great. I just came back from a few days camping in the White
Mountains of New Hampishire (my favorite
stomping grounds), and used the "prusik knot set up on the tarp I set up
over my hammock, plus I used the ridgeline technique
from your video. What a big improvment in coverage and stability. Best of luck.
Your site info has been great.
Thanks,
~Rich G
I just wanted to say that I really
enjoyed the videos on your website. It's great to see Bushcraft and schools
like yours gaining
popularity here in the states! If I ever get out to the west coast I'll be sure
to attend one of your workshops. Keep up the great work!
~Tom C. - Chicago, IL
Just saw your tarp video on YouTube.
Nice piece of work. Good simple instruction, clear and to the point.
Knots also easy to understand.
Your web site is well-laid out and attractive.
Good luck with BNW!
~ Dave Parmer - Tokyo, Japan
Your site is an amazing resource.
I stumbled across your site on www.stumbleupon.com. It showed the tarp set up.
I then went to
your website and saw all that you have. I have to say, I am completely impressed!
We are military and love to camp and off road.
All of our friends love to do the same. I will be forwarding your site to all
my friends.
Thank you!!!!
